Potty Training

{Jan. 20}

Ty wasn't ready.
He was scared of the potty ever since his prolapse last July.
I work Tues-Thursday and didn't know what I would have time to just stay home for the week and potty train.
I woke up Friday morning and decided, "I'm doing it today."
I knew I needed to start if I wanted him done by the time the baby comes.
He woke up and I told him we were just going to go in the potty.
No more diapers.
We put on underwear and we hung out in the Kitchen...all day.
We played puzzles, cars, had a picnic.
I was too worried about him going potty on the carpet.
He did great. Only went in his pull up during his nap.
He wouldn't go poop on the potty though.
He didn't tell me when he needed to go, so I would just put him on the potty every 20-30 minutes.

Day 2 was awful.
Just peed in his pants all day and finally pooped...but it was in his pull up.
At the end of the day I wanted to throw in the towell.
I thought about just putting a diaper back on the next day for church.
I decided I just had to stick with it.
I didn't want to start over again.
He did great at church and only had one or 2 accidents at home on Day 3.
We made SLOW progress.
It took a few days before he finally decided it wasn't scary to poop on the potty...YAY!
I felt bad taking him to the babysitter on Tuesday, but he only had one accident.
It was a good month of 1-2 accidents.
He only used his little potty for a few days(thankfully) and then we moved up to the big potty.
He wore pull ups to bed for probably about 2 months.
We are now down to just underwear at night!
I'm SO glad I stuck with it.
Can't imagine still changing those nasty diapers.

He goes so good on his own now, but waits until the LAST second because he's just so busy.
Most of the time he lets a drop come out first and runs to the potty yelling, "I needa go potty! Don't let it come out!" ha

One more side note for the records: He has officially named his poop.
Ha this kid thinks it's so funny to make up words.
It started one day when he went and he yelled, "EWWW! COONIES!"
It has now turned into "Conies."
Now he will get on to go pee and then he says, "I'm going conies too Mom." Then he'll look in the toilet and say, "EW! SICK!" haha
